This acrylic painting features the Mangrove Snake (Boiga dendrophila) alongside a Southeast Asian Pitcher Plant (Nepenthes sp.), two rainforest predators sharing the same humid, shaded understory. The Mangrove Snake, a mildly venomous arboreal colubrid, preys on birds, lizards, and amphibians, while the Pitcher Plant supplements poor soils by trapping insects in its leaf pitchers. Their mirrored open jaws inspired me to pair them on canvas—a striking encounter between two ambush hunters.
