This acrylic painting pays tribute to the Crested Gecko (Correlophus ciliatus), a species close to my heart. Alongside two vivid adults (Produced and owned by Oklana Zoological) I’ve included a delicate skeleton to hint at its hidden structure and life cycle—from hatchling to maturity. The gecko is shown among Ficus austrocaledonica leaves and fruit with Euploea lewinii butterflies—plants and insects from its native New Caledonia diet—so the scene reflects the richness of its natural habitat.
