This original painting depicts a Tiger Centipede (Scolopendra polymorpha) in a stylized yet naturalistic composition. Native to the American Southwest and known for its striking coloration and distinctive segmented body, the Tiger Centipede is one of my favorite species of centipede.
The composition is simply a fun concept that I wanted to put together without any particular meaning behind it. I enjoy making pieces like this that are open to interpretation and allow the viewer to decide what they want the artwork to represent. At its core, this piece is just a celebration of an animal I find fascinating and a chance to have some fun with the subject.
